UK Container Maintenance Raises Funds for Local CRY Memorial Fund

Winsford-based firm UK Container Maintenance, has embarked on a charitable fundraising drive for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) and the Aaron Dixon Memorial Fund, raising £4,117 with the refurbishment of 4,177 waste containers.

For each container refurbished throughout the month of May, UKCM pledged to donate £1 to CRY, enabling more families to access lifesaving cardiac testing for their children, to prevent them going through the same devastating heartache that the firm’s friend Deborah Dixon faces each day, following her son Aaron’s passing in 2011 from an undetected heart defect.

All funds raised have been donated directly to the Aaron Dixon Memorial Fund, set up by the family to help CRY reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death through supporting CRY’s screening programme. To date, Deborah and her highly inspirational, dedicated team have raised over a staggering £500,000. With the cost to run a screening day totalling £6,000, where 100 young adults between the ages of 14 and 35 can be assessed, over 5,000 young adults have now been screened in Aaron’s memory – 173 of which have been referred with abnormalities.

Deborah Dixon commented: “Thank you to Emma and everyone at UKCM for their kind donation to Aaron’s Memorial Fund. I am always so overwhelmed at people’s generosity and support in my quest to reduce sudden cardiac deaths. No parent should have to bury their child and I have made it my mission to prevent other families going through the heartache we face every day. So, a huge thanks for enabling me to carry on my work.”

Emma Elston MBE, CEO of UK Container Maintenance added: “We understand that our previous fundraising at UKCM for CRY has already saved lives, and we were therefore hugely passionate about being able to offer additional support by raising funds towards another screening day local to our refurbishment facility in Cheshire.

“As a mum myself, after hearing about what Deborah went through and how inspirational she is in tirelessly pushing for more young people to be tested to ensure that no other families experience such heartbreak, we want to do as much as we can to help. It is an honour to have raised a substantial amount of money for the Aaron Dixon Memorial Fund, an incredibly worthwhile cause local to UKCM.”
