Cutting claims costs for individual insurers by £4m
Stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) expert, Tracker Network UK Limited, is celebrating its success in working with the UK insurance sector to mitigate the impact of vehicle theft. Since 2020, Tracker has helped more than 30 leading insurers reduce motor insurance claims payouts, recover millions of pounds’ worth of stolen vehicles, and enable insurers to operate in niche and higher-risk vehicle markets confidently.
Over the past six years, Tracker has supplied more than 180,000 devices to its insurer customers across the UK. This commitment has translated into substantial financial benefits, with individual insurers saving more than £4million annually in claims payouts. In 2025 alone, the activation of Tracker’s technology led to the recovery of over £41million worth of stolen vehicles, with a further 200 collateral recoveries made with a total value of £4million, underscoring the consistent value the technology brings.
The significance of Tracker’s role is amplified by the current landscape of vehicle crime. Data from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) puts annual vehicle theft claims as £669million. Criminals are employing advanced techniques, including key cloning, relay attacks, and CAN bus hacking.
Despite efforts by Tracker and the police to tackle the proliferation of illegal ‘chop shops’ – together they shut down a record 78 illegal ‘chop shops’ in 2025 – the appetite of criminals to turn stolen vehicles into lucrative black-market parts is exacerbating the problem. Compounding the challenge is a drastic decline in recovery rates for unprotected vehicles. Between 2022 and 2025 just 13% of stolen vehicles were recovered by police.
However, Tracker’s unique multi-technology approach and formal police partnership consistently outperform these threats. Its solutions combine VHF, GPS, and GSM technologies, effectively overcoming signal jamming that affects GPS/GSM-only systems. This allows Tracker to locate stolen vehicles in challenging environments such as underground garages and shipping containers, providing insurers, MGAs and brokers with a critical tool to manage theft-related claims.

This formal relationship ensures a minimum 95% SVR success rate, with 80% of vehicles recovered within 24 hours and 50% within 4 hours. Every recovered vehicle reduces the financial burden of theft claims for insurers and their customers, generating enviable loss ratios and empowering confident underwriting of high-risk policies.
