Press Release

London- May 8, 2026

First Mold, a leading supplier of precision tooling and manufacturing solutions, has entered a new market in Mexico for nearly one and a half years, where growth momentum is continuously increasing. The company is expanding its mold manufacturing activities in Mexico and the entire North American region. Unlike in other global markets, where the company is involved in larger projects in the manufacturing and distribution of molds for manufacturing companies, the office in Mexico has diversified its manufacturing segment, including a small market segment that seeks mold repairs and maintenance. Through its commitment to timely service delivery, First Mold has attracted a pool of repeat clients, resulting in rising demand for its services. First Mold has so far served over 20 clients and completed over 80 projects involving mold repair and maintenance. The company services existing molds for local manufacturers seeking to improve reliability and ensure timely production.

“We are glad to extend the lifespan of our partners’ molds. These companies have been able to cut down their cost of production by minimizing the mold replacement costs,” said Michael Wang, Technical Director at First Mold. First Mold’s long-term goal in the Mexican market is not limited to mold repairs and maintenance. It seeks to engage in custom mold making services. In this approach, the company intends to expand its market space by not only enhancing its precision molding and injection plastic molding, but also specializing in modifying its partners’ molds to meet specific customer needs.

Market Insight: A High-Frequency Service Gap

According to the company’s statistics, 90% of orders received over the last 3 months involved repairs and mold modifications. While the company experiences relatively small project scopes (1-4) per request on this mold modification market segment, these requests are reported more frequently. For instance, a company would record 2 repairs for three consecutive days, with 3 modifications recorded twice a month. Combining such requests from about 6 companies over one week resulted in high-frequency requests. Since entering the Mexican market, First Mold has experienced a relatively slow rise in demand for its molds. However, the company experienced a sudden increase in requests from other mold-making companies to service their molds. This created another market segment that would help First Mold strengthen its financial position as it lays its roots in the Mexican market.

First Mold can be said to have earned its clients’ trust. According to the sales director, “70% of the clients we have experienced for the past 6 months are repeat clients. While clients buying new molds from our production line are relatively few, we have experienced a new set of clients who just want their molds repaired, modified, or maintained. Once a client visits us, they are likely to come next week with similar orders or relatively different prescriptions.” Young Lee, the sales director at First Mold, further clarified that the 65% of the jobs submitted at the front desks were urgent. This means local manufacturers trusted First Mold for fast, efficient service.

Execution Timeline and Operational Milestones

First Mold hasn’t been in Mexico long. The company opened its office in Guanajuato, Mexico, two years ago and has been specializing in precision mold-making, plastic injection molding, and custom cnc machining services. It delivers its products to different companies in the medical, electronic and automotive sectors. Over the two years of operations, the company has experienced a gradual increase in product demand, even though the expansion has not met management’s expectations.

However, the company received unexpected, sudden demand from other local manufacturers in Mexico who wanted their molds serviced. This offered another small market segment, which supplemented the company’s operations. For the two years the company has existed in Mexico, it has operated under a defined structured path with defined milestones. In the last quarter of 2024, the company was launched, and a technical team was formed. At this period, the company installed its equipment and designed the workflow. It did not reach full operational mode, but it allowed the team’s pilot engagements. It was during this period that the team familiarized itself with the Mexican market, and the technical team identified common tooling issues affecting local manufacturers.

The company adapted quickly and started its operations on time. For example, it had already engaged with decades local manufacturing companies in Mexico during the first half of 2025. During these engagements, First Mold was assigned over 100 projects, which it successfully completed. Most of the clients who met at this period wanted an urgent solution to their challenges and found First Mold to be the only company willing to commit to timely delivery. It was at this phase that the company deliberately marketed itself to the clients, especially in the mold servicing market.

By the end of 2025, First Mold worked on capacity expansion and optimizing its process. This included increasing its engineering capacity by 14% and expanding its system to include rapid-response workflows. These changes saved the company time in operations, enhancing timely service delivery. With these changes in place, First Mold has been experiencing increasing client demand in the mold servicing sector. For example, in the first quarter of 2026, it recorded over 20 clients accomplishing over 40 projects. As the clients got familiarized with the company, they changed their behavior. They no longer submitted their orders because of the urgency. Rather, they started scheduling their maintenance operations, thus giving First Mold some reasonable time to work on their projects without haste. They have simply currently developed trust with the company.

A Scalable Growth Model

While considering opening operations in Mexico, First Mold was unaware of the market behavior of Mexican manufacturers. The company just wanted to expand its precision mold-making, CNC machining, and plastic injection molding activities in North America. However, after nine months of operations, the company observed a markedly different behavior from local manufacturers. One of the clients wanted their mold to be serviced. “A client came to my office, and they wanted their mold to be serviced. They wanted the runners to be reworked on. The client believed that the mold was still functional and they did not find it economical to purchase a new mold. They asked me if we could redefine the mold. I shared with our team, and the engineers said, ‘yes’. That opened our new market. It’s been one year since integration of this new marked model and it has really worked wonders,” said Young Lee, the sales director at First Mold.

The new market existed, but it had not yet been explored, and other players were not ready to face the challenges it posed. Most of the companies focused on large-volume production. This large volume production lacked comprehensive rapid prototyping services and bridge production. Most companies operated between 100 and 5,000 units. Manufacturers with lower unit volumes failed to attract partners because their margins were lower. First Mold approached these lower-market segments due to their frequency and continuity. While these markets attracted lower revenues per project successfully completed, the repeatability implied higher overall profits.

The companies’ modular production systems are centered on reconfigurable injection molds. Effectively, the company experienced accelerated customer repeatability, which enabled them to advance their systems. First Mold is seeking to advance its systems to include design for manufacturability (DFM), optimized material selection, and rapid iteration lines. Consequently, the company expects to increase customer lifetime value and attract long-term contracts from existing customers.

Further, the company seeks to improve its operations in the future to adopt a cleanroom manufacturing model in China, especially when working with medical device manufacturers.
