Partou Woodlands Halton Day Nursery and Pre-school in Aylesbury has been rated ‘Good’ across all areas of activity by Ofsted.
Located less than half a mile from Wendover, it is a popular choice for families living in Aylesbury and surrounding areas including Aston Clinton and Weston Turville.
The nursery’s calm but stimulating indoor environment is complemented by an impressive outdoor area with climbing frames, water play stations and more to explore.
The Ofsted inspector notes that “children arrive happy and settled for their day at this welcoming setting.”
The report continues: “They separate confidently from parents as they are greeted by friendly staff. Children choose from a wide range of activities that build on what they already know and can do. Staff know the children well and adapt their approach to meet children’s individual needs.”
Partou Woodlands Halton team members are commended for having “high expectations for children’s development and behaviour” and being “positive role models who praise children for their achievements.”
The inspector adds: “Children are independent learners and the support from staff encourages them to persevere when developing new skills. As a result, children are happy, confident and resilient learners who excitedly explore the resources and activities available to them.”
Leaders and managers are deemed to have “good oversight of the setting” with the curriculum adapted to meet the individual needs of children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
Children’s independence is “supported well,” aided by encouragement from team members “to manage their self-care needs.”
Activities are planned “to support children’s understanding of the world around them and the wider world,” according to the report, with a focus on “the religions and special events important to their peers.” It explains: “This helps children to understand and celebrate similarities and differences between themselves.”
Relationships between team members and families are described as “positive.” The inspector writes: “Regular feedback ensures that parents know what their children are doing, their next steps in learning and how parents can support this at home. Parents are encouraged to share home routines and information about what their children have been doing away from the nursery. This provides consistency for the children and creates strong partnerships between families and staff.”
And safeguarding arrangements at the setting are judged to be “effective” thanks to “an open and positive culture” that “puts children’s interests first.”
