Wayfarer Theaters officially reopens the doors Friday, March 27th, marking the beginning of a new era for the 25-year-old community movie theater formerly known as Stadium Cinemas. The grand reopening celebrates Wayfarer’s commitment to preserving what generations of Payson families have loved while bringing renewed energy to the treasured venue.
“This theater has been part of Payson for a quarter century,” said Wayfarer Theaters founder Steve Sarowitz. “We acquired Stadium Cinemas because we saw a community that reflects the positive values we strive to bring to the industry. This isn’t just a theater—it’s where Payson families make memories.”
Wayfarer Theaters’ founder and CEO, Steve Sarowitz, is making himself available for interviews with the local Payson community and press the week of March 23rd.
A Refreshed Experience, Rooted in Tradition Wayfarer is renovating Payson’s historic theater, adding improved restrooms, updated signage, and aesthetic upgrades—preserving the theater’s character while preparing it for its next chapter.
MAYOR of Payson, Bill Wright, will join owner Steve Sarowitz for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11am, on Friday March 27th at the Payson location. (633 S 950 W, Payson, UT 84651)
The theater’s guiding philosophy reflects Wayfarer’s mission: “If it starts in darkness, it should end in light.” Programming will continue to feature first-run blockbusters alongside independent, foreign, and classic films that enrich the human spirit.
More Than Movies Wayfarer envisions the theater as a true community gathering place. Families can enjoy free activities that give parents a reason to come early and stay late. The venue is also available for private rentals, youth groups, and special occasions, as well as live events and filmmaker talkbacks.
