Partou Turney Road Day Nursery and Pre-school in Dulwich has been rated ‘Good’ in all activities by Ofsted.
In her final report, the inspector observes: “Children are happy and relaxed at this warm, welcoming nursery.”
The popular setting has multiple playrooms filled with fun, educational resources to encourage each child’s development.
Its large outdoor space features a water pump, sandpit, climbing area and more for the children to explore.
The inspector praises Partou Turney Road team members for creating “a home-from-home atmosphere” and for building “strong relationships with children from the start.”
She writes: “They take time to get to know children’s individual characteristics and are highly responsive to their needs. They are patient, kind and caring and give children lots of cuddles and smiles. This helps children feel safe and secure.”
Her report continues: “Staff know children exceptionally well. They follow children’s interests to plan experiences that stimulate their learning. The provider is highly ambitious for children to be ready for school. Staff sequence children’s learning well to help them build on what they can already do. All children make good progress from their starting points.”
The level of support given to children with special educational needs and/or disabilities also impresses the inspector who notes that Partou Turney Road team members “have a deep understanding” of their requirements. “They liaise with parents and other professionals to put care plans in place to ensure a consistent approach to their care,” she explains. “Staff have a flexible approach and respond quickly to children’s emerging needs and abilities. As a result, these children make good progress.”
Partnerships with families are described as “strong” with leaders and managers at the nursery viewed as “strong role models.” The report adds: “They have a hands-on approach and consistently model appropriate interactions with children, parents and other professionals. Staff receive frequent supervision, which provides them with opportunities to reflect on their practice. As a result, they have a good understanding of their roles and responsibilities, which has a positive impact on the quality of care and teaching children receive.”
And safeguarding arrangements at the setting are deemed to be “effective” rooted on an “open and positive culture” that “puts children’s interests first.”
Elizabeth Harris, Partou Tunney Road Nursery Manager, said: “Although relatively small in size, our nursery is filled with fun and learning in a calm and welcoming environment.
“The relaxed atmosphere not only helps children to settle quickly but also gain increased confidence which accelerates their everyday development.
“I am really pleased by the report and proud of my team who deserve all the credit for the wonderful work they do.”
Samantha Rhodes, Partou Managing Director, said: “Congratulations to Elizabeth and the Partou Tunney Road team on achieving such a positive outcome.
“Their dedication and professionalism shine through in the Ofsted report.”
