Viking Bags has launched the Apex XL, a 38-liter ADV aluminum top case built around full weather protection for adventure motorcycle riders. Designed for long-distance and off-road use, the case carries a 100% waterproof rating and is now available with model-specific mounting hardware for popular ADV platforms, including the BMW R 1300 GS, Honda Africa Twin, Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250, and Kawasaki Versys 1000. A complete list of supported bikes is available on the Viking Bags ADV aluminum top case page.
The waterproof rating is backed by precision welding and self-piercing riveting across the aluminum body, leaving no entry points for moisture. A weather seal runs along the edge of the lid, reinforcing the closure against rain and trail dust. The hard aluminum shell resists impact on rough terrain, and fiberglass caps at each corner protect against contact damage during tight, low-speed trail sections, a common point of wear on off-road runs.
Beyond weather resistance, the Apex XL is built for practical use in remote conditions. The case holds 2,300 cubic inches, enough to fit a full-size helmet, and measures 16″ x 13.5″ x 13″. Both the lid and mounting bracket lock independently with a key. A quick disconnect system allows the case to be removed without tools. Riders who own the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure can find model-specific fitment details on the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure top case page.
Two off-road-ready additions are included as standard. LED lights inside the case make it easy to locate gear in the dark at campsites or before early morning departures. A solar power bank is also packed in, offering a way to keep electronics charged when no power source is available, which is a useful addition for multi-day backcountry trips.
Four lid-mounted tie-downs allow tent rolls, sleeping bags, or extra trail gear to be secured on top of the case. An internal organizer keeps contents in order over extended rides. Stainless steel hinges and aluminum carry handles round out the build. Harley-Davidson Pan America riders can review full specs and fitment on the Harley Pan America ADV touring top case page.
