Stylish and Sustainable: Eco-Friendly Eyewear by IOLLA

Eye-conic glasses brand, IOLLA, has taken a visionary approach to deliver handmade, uniquely designed and premium eyewear since 2015. Priding itself on offering a spec-tacular shopping experience like no other, the brand is also committed to ensuring its products are as sustainable as they are stylish with the launch of its brand-new Eco-Collection.

Since rising to fame after being approached to create a pair of signature specs for the swoon-worthy Tommy Shelby to wear in the fifth series of Peaky Blinders, the Scottish-born brand has gone from strength to strength, making its mark on the highstreet of Manchester, and developing a new collection of sustainable specs.

IOLLA’s brand new Eco-Collection features fully biodegradable eco-acetates meaning that frames can be broken down naturally without causing pollution. The first two pairs to be added to the collection are Butter Tortoise and Crystal Fade from the Douglas collection – the perfect pair for any socially responsible trendsetter. All of IOLLA’s black frames are also made from 70% recycled acetate, produced from off-cuts which would usually be discarded during the frame manufacturing process.

Alongside developing more sustainable materials for its eye-catching range, the brand offers an IOLLA Refresh Service to breathe new life into your beloved old IOLLA frames. Whether it’s a change in prescription or a scratched lens that’s causing you to question your relationship with a trusted set of frames, IOLLA has you covered with a range of services to repair, reuse or recycle your glasses. And with the summer months fast approaching, you can also switch your lenses to transform old specs into a stylish set of new shades as part of the service.

IOLLA is also encouraging customers old and new to take advantage of its new recycling programme which will ensure your glasses can be reused responsibly and prevent any products from reaching the landfill.

Stefan Hunter, Founder and CEO at IOLLA, said:

“We are delighted to launch our Eco-Collection and are committed to ensuring at least 25% of our range is eco-friendly by the end of the year. At IOLLA we’re passionate about delivering an experience unlike any other and that’s reflected in our unique flat-fee pricing structure, next-level customer service and handcrafted designs. Our focus within product development now is to lead the way in developing stylish, sustainable eyewear and minimising our impact on the environment as much as possible.”

IOLLA keeps its pricing simple and honest by refusing to include hidden costs or added extras, meaning that handmade frames, prescription lenses and coatings are all included within a flat fee of £85. Need an ultra-thin lens? Not a problem, IOLLA will take care of this too, at no additional cost, at its Scottish lens glazing workshop.
