Staycations are booming – Cheltenham holiday home travel business toasts successful year

Demand for staycations remains high and looks set to continue next year, according to an independent holiday home agency, which is celebrating one of its busiest ever years.

The Cotswolds remain as popular for a staycation as ever, as demonstrated by the impressive figures shared by Cheltenham-based Bolthole Retreats, which has seen a record number of bookings for 2022 – driving revenue up 53%.

This rate of growth is set to continue with so far for 2023 forward bookings across the agency’s 180 homes in the Cotswolds up 49% compared to last year.

In addition to its record booking figures, Bolthole Retreats is also celebrating after being crowned ‘Best Holiday Cottage Rental Agency’ at the LUXLife Resort and Retreat Awards – and ‘Holiday Home Rental Agency of the Year’ at the Central England Prestige Awards. Both awards celebrate the very best of the travel industry, including innovation, dedication to customer service and extensive expertise when it comes to offering holidaymakers the perfect retreats to escape to.

This unprecedented success, as well as a 33% increase in the size of Bolthole Retreats’ property portfolio enabled the business to expand its offering with the launch of a new proposition, ‘Designer Retreats’. Tailored for holidaymakers in search of once-in-a-lifetime holiday experiences, the collection incorporates a range of specially curated, breathtaking properties, in the most magical settings.

Rebekah England, managing director of Bolthole Retreats, said: “If there’s one thing to take away from this year, it’s that staycations are proving to be as popular as ever – and our sales figures have shown the Cotswolds remains firmly as one of the top dream destinations for tourists.

“The whole team has worked incredibly hard to provide holidaymakers with an outstanding customer experience throughout the year, from matching them with the best possible holiday home, to ensuring their stay in the Cotswolds is as awe-inspiring as it should be.

“With the rise in popularity of the staycation market, we’re also looking to expand our geographical area next year to offer guests even more choice. We’re excited to see what the future has in store for us!”
