This fall, Maryland families can trade crowded pumpkin patches for an unforgettable day at Black Barn Alpacas. It’s part pumpkin patch, part animal encounters, and pure alpaca magic, completely unlike anything else on the fall calendar. Home to nearly 150 alpacas, including this season’s most adorable babies, Black Barn Alpacas is the largest alpaca farm in Maryland and the state’s leading agritourism destination.
During Fall ‘Ag’tivities, visitors will be able to feed gentle alpacas, enjoy scenic hayrides through rolling farmland, and take part in old-fashioned games such as “pumpkin bowling,” cattle roping, and cornhole. Children can also explore corn bins and the Kiddie Corral play zone, while families and friends capture perfect fall photos among rustic barns, Pumpkin Lane, and other seasonal backdrops. Every admission also includes a locally grown pumpkin to paint and take home as a keepsake.
“We love everybody to come visit us to learn about alpacas, to go ahead and participate in all of our fun seasonal events. It’s really a wonderful, wonderful place to come visit,” said Yussy McManus, co-owner of Black Barn Alpacas. “Alpacas are still quite rare. We’re excited to be part of that equation, and we are one of the largest alpaca farms that have one of the biggest agritourism to offer.”
“Once they come in, even if you’re in a little bit of a bad mood, I promise when you leave you will be smiling,” said Tina Wheland, alpaca handler at Black Barn Alpacas. “They will make your day for sure.”
