Ovations Dance Academy of Tampa has opened registration for its 2026 Summer Camps, inviting families to give their children a season filled with creativity, movement, and memorable experiences. With themed day camps for young dancers, full‑scale Summer Stock musicals for rising performers, and training intensives for students ready to grow their technique, Ovations is preparing a summer where every child can discover new skills and make new friends.
Founder and Artistic Director Orlando Peña shared his excitement for the upcoming season. “Summer at Ovations is a time when kids surprise themselves. They try something new, they find their confidence, and they leave each day with a sense of pride. Watching that happen is one of the best parts of what we do,” he said.
Peña added that the heart of the program is the environment created for young performers. “We build a space where kids feel safe to explore who they are. When they feel supported, they take creative risks that help them grow in ways that stay with them long after camp ends.”
Princess Camp runs June 15 to 19 and invites young dancers into a world of fairytales, character play, and gentle technique. Campers learn ballet and jazz‑inspired choreography set to classic storybook music and create themed crafts that bring the magic home. Daily story sessions and character exploration let children imagine themselves as Tiana, Jasmine, or any hero they choose.
Swiftie Camp runs July 6 to 10 and brings a high‑energy week inspired by Taylor Swift. Dancers learn upbeat routines to favorite hits, create and trade friendship bracelets, and enjoy themed crafts and activities that celebrate creativity and confidence. The week is designed for dancers who want to take center stage and enjoy a fun pop‑themed experience.
K‑POP Camp runs July 13 to 17 and offers a lively mix of dance, music, and creative projects. Campers learn choreography to popular K‑POP hits, make themed crafts, and enjoy a week centered on teamwork and self‑expression. The theme for the week is ‘Be glowing together, be golden together.’
For students ready for a full musical theater experience, Ovations Repertory Company presents two Summer Stock productions. Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids is open to ages 5 to 12. Auditions are June 6. Rehearsals run June 22 to July 2 from 9:00 to 3:00, with a performance on July 2. Tuition is $775 with financial aid available. This program offers young performers the chance to rehearse and present a complete musical, learning choreography, staging, character work, and ensemble skills.
The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is open to ages 13 and up. Auditions are May 30. Rehearsals run July 13 to 30 from 6:00 to 9:00, with a performance on July 31. Tuition is $595 with financial aid available. . Teen performers will bring the world of demigods to life through music, movement, and storytelling.
Peña noted that the Summer Stock programs are often transformative for young performers. “There is something special about watching a cast come together. They learn discipline, teamwork, and trust, and by opening night they feel like a family.”
He also shared what he hopes families take away from the experience. “Our camps are designed to be welcoming and inspiring for every child. Whether they love to dance, sing, act, or simply try something new, we want them to feel excited to walk through the door each morning.”
