Napthens launches next-generation HR platform – AfterAthena

Leading northern law firm Napthens has launched AfterAthena, a new HR and H&S platform-based service designed to streamline and support HR & H&S processes and help businesses stay up-to-date with the latest legal developments and case updates.

Initially launching to an existing client base of more than 450 businesses covering more than 150,000 employees, AfterAthena has been designed to provide its community of business leaders, owners and HR professionals with all the resources they need in one place.

Launch of the platform comes as HR teams increasingly look for digitised support. New research from enterprise software company Sage found that 83% of HR leaders and 84% of c-suite executives see a lack of the right HR technology as a challenge for HR in 2024.*

Features of the platform include instant access to more than 500 HR, employment and health & safety resources that can be tailored to each organisations’ needs, including news, documents and templates. The platform also has AI capability allowing employers to create investigation questions and policies in seconds. Subscribers to AfterAthena will also have quicker access, via the platform, to HR, employment and health & safety legal experts, including over 32 qualified solicitors, consultants and specialists that can be contacted via the platform.

AfterAthena offers users the flexibility to choose from various services including three employment law subscription tiers, depending on their specific needs. The first tier provides users with access to all of AfterAthena’s resources, and the ability to ask for advice once a month. The second tier includes access to unlimited employment law advice and the third tier, adds access to an integrated employee relations case management platform that connects with AfterAthena’s team of lawyers.

The three tiers have been designed to provide users with maximum flexibility, allowing them to choose the level of service that best suits their needs and budget.

AfterAthena has been developed in partnership between Napthens and engagement technology specialists, Engage Solutions Group, which developed the software platform.

Chris Boyle, head of AfterAthena and head of employment at Napthens, said: “There is growing pressure on business leaders, directors and HR professionals to make HR processes simple, fast and effective – an integral part of that is legal services. Many of our clients now require access to our support anytime, anywhere, with the ability to communicate with us and access case updates from the palm of their hand.

“That’s what AfterAthena is here to do. We’re confident it will add real value to our clients, empowering them to make informed decisions and take proactive steps with confidence. Added to that, our long-term goal is to create the biggest and most engaged network in HR, and we look forward to working with all clients to build the ultimate HR platform.”

Alexandra Hatchman, CEO at Napthens, commented: “As a law firm we’re committed to staying at the forefront of our industry, and developing our digital offering is a key part of this. AfterAthena is the first of several new tech-led initiatives that we’ll be launching, and we believe that this will help us on our journey to becoming a next-generation law firm.

“By leveraging the latest technology, we are providing our clients with more efficient, effective legal services. We’re excited to be leading the way in legal innovation and look forward to sharing more details about other future tech-led initiatives in due course.”

Phil Wedgwood, CEO at Engage Solutions Group: “This platform is designed to enable HR professionals to streamline processes and perform their role more effectively, but what is most exciting is the thriving HR community it will build. It’s a pleasure to partner with Napthens on developing AfterAthena and we’re looking forward to seeing how their clients engage with the platform.”
