As England prepare to take on Australia in the Ashes, commercial heating and ventilation specialist Lord Combustion Services are ready to help Edgbaston host cricket’s most fiercely contested rivalry.
Birmingham’s iconic cricket stadium, home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club, will be the venue for the opening Test match in the men’s series on June 16.
On July 1, Edgbaston will be hosting the Women’s Ashes IT20, the first time the venue has had two Ashes matches in the same summer, as the oldest rivalry in cricket heats up.
Award-winning Lord Combustion Services, Warwickshire’s official commercial heating and hot water partner, will play their part in ensuring one of the leading venues in international cricket benefits from the efficient and more effective hot water system installed recently.
The Test venue turned to Lord as its official commercial heating and hot water partner in 2019 when it needed to introduce a new water system for all areas of the stadium’s £32 million South Stand, from the player changing rooms to the kitchens and corporate hospitality rooms. The work carried out at the venue contributed to Lord winning a sustainability award in 2021.
Managing Director Stuart Smith said the Lord team are proud to count Edgbaston among their 1,000 clients across the West Midlands, which also include NHS and education sites.

Lord have their logo on advertising boards around the Edgbaston ground, which will be visible during TV coverage to fans across the world during the Ashes. The company have also signed up to have their logo on the sleeve of Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Royal London Cup shirt for the 2023 season.
In recognition of the cricket club’s partnership with the commercial heating and ventilation specialist, club captain Will Rhodes and wicket-keeper Michael Burgess visited Lord in December at their HQ in Dudley Road East, Oldbury, to find out more about their work and meet the team.
Last year, Lord also sponsored Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s popular ‘Heat of the Moment’ social media campaign, which reached more than 400,000 people on Facebook and Twitter.
Launched in March 1982, the Lord team of nearly 50 staff serve customers across the West Midlands. The company made the West Midlands Net Zero Business Pledge to reduce their environmental impact during a visit by West Midlands Mayor Andy Street to mark their 40th anniversary in April 2022.
