Local Broker Champion Rewarded with Insurance Award Recognition

The Leeds-based network for insurance brokers nationwide, who want to be part of a local broker renaissance, has become a finalist in the prestigious Insurance Times Awards.

The Gauntlet Group Appointed Representative Network, operated by Gauntlet Group based in Killingbeck, has been shortlisted for the Insurance Times ‘Business Partner of the Year’ award, in recognition of its efforts to put traditional local broking back on the map and with a compelling twist that business clients of all kinds cannot resist.

Gauntlet Group is leading a local broker fightback, to help SMEs and larger businesses get back to a position in which their insurance broker understands their needs inside-out and is always there to support them, whenever they need assistance.

It is also ensuring local brokers can once again become the hub of their local communities, attaining a level of sustainability that has been a struggle for many, in a world in which big-business brokers, many with international ownership, have swallowed up independents.

To do this, Gauntlet Group is providing its network of independent local brokers, known as appointed representatives, with national buying power, to ensure their commercial clients are offered the best premium and policy options for their insurance covers.

It has invested heavily in its partner brokers, not only giving them the freedom to serve clients in an optimal way, by taking care of all non-core activities such as compliance, accounting and administration on their behalf, but also by developing systems that offer a competitive edge.

It has developed a means to get new start-up brokers, who want to be the go-to expert in their local community, up and running quickly and profitably in their early business life.

In addition, it is rebooting existing brokerages through its unique Gauntlet De-authorisation Fast-track process, through which an existing directly authorised broker, struggling with the burden on their time of FCA compliance, can smoothly de-authorise, become an appointed representative and just focus on finding clients and delivering excellent customer service.  With access to a wide number of insurance options and no need to incur overheads, the formula can make existing brokers far more profitable, whilst also removing many stresses.

Gauntlet Group’s managing director and head of its Appointed Representative Network, Roger Gaunt, says: “We were delighted to receive the Insurance Times shortlisting news, as it is a highly valuable external endorsement of all we are doing to put local brokers back on the map, whilst giving businesses old-fashioned traditional broking, with the advantage of premium pricing typically keener than that on offer from the big insurance conglomerates.

“This is a real fightback for local broking and for brokers who want to treat clients as individuals, not numbers on a spreadsheet.  We are spearheading a local broker rebirth and it is truly satisfying to watch our network of local broker partners grow and prosper week by week.  Any further boost that we can receive, like an Insurance Times Award, would be an added bonus.”
