Stoke-on-Trent Central MP Jo Gideon has praised the remarkable work of 19,057 volunteers within
the Stoke-on-Trent Central and celebrated their invaluable contributions during Volunteers’ Week.
As part of this initiative, Jo has been showcasing the outstanding efforts of charities, social
enterprises, and community groups in Stoke-on-Trent Central on her social media channels,
highlighting one organisation each day that is making a tangible difference in our local community.
The MP’s comments come as Volunteers’ Week gets underway. Volunteers’ Week is the annual
celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering in their
communities.
Charity Commission data highlights that there are 19,057 volunteers working in the constituency of
Stoke-on-Trent Central, and many more throughout the country. The work of volunteers is vital in
allowing local charities to make a difference in their community, the voluntary sector and society as
a whole.
Volunteers are at the heart of the charity sector, offering their time and energy to help those in
need. This includes charity trustees—most of whom are volunteers. The Charity Commission offers a
wide array of guidance and support to help trustees run their charities well so they can improve lives
and strengthen society.
