Local Chinatown favorite ranks #20 in the U.S. for Korean cuisine just days after being named a top national destination for outdoor dining
O’Kims Korean Kitchen has achieved a significant milestone for Hawaii’s culinary industry, securing two major national rankings in a single week. Yelp has officially named the Chinatown staple #20 on its list of the Top 50 Korean Restaurants in the U.S. This announcement comes immediately following O’Kims’ inclusion in Yelp’s Top 100 U.S. Restaurants for Outdoor Dining, where it ranked #82.
The “Top 50 Korean” list is an all-time ranking determined by the volume and quality of reviews from the Yelp Elite Squad, identifying essential destinations for authentic and fusion flavors. O’Kims was specifically recognized as a “must-bookmark” spot for its innovative approach to traditional dishes.
“Representing Honolulu on two national lists in one week is a proud moment for our local food community,” said Chef and Owner Hyun Kim. “It shows that Hawaii’s unique fusion style resonates on a national stage alongside the best restaurants in major mainland cities.”
A key driver of the restaurant’s success is Chef Kim’s commitment to culinary creativity through her popular monthly specials. These rotating dishes have become a favorite for returning customers, offering a constantly evolving menu that blends seasonal inspirations with contemporary Korean techniques. National reviewers also highlighted signature offerings such as the Truffle Mandoo, Confit Pork Belly Brulee, and Elote Ice Cream.
The restaurant’s atmosphere further sets it apart, featuring a bright, casual interior and a lush, greenery-filled lanai that provides a tropical escape for diners in the heart of the city.
