The Pink Party Ball held at The Majestic Hotel in Harrogate welcomed 300 guests to a night of candlelit dining and fun to raise funds for children’s cancer charity Candlelighters.
The event was organised by a committee of dedicated people, including local businessman Paul Meehan and his partner Sheree Hemingway, Sue Patterson, one of the trustees at Candlelighters, Catherine Kennedy, Rachel Smith and Kim Murray. The evening was an amazing success and included live and silent auctions, raffles, and other fundraising which all helped to raise an incredible £71k.
On the night, Amy Dickenson spoke to attendees about her four-year-old son Noah, who is currently being treated for cancer, and how the family is being supported by Candlelighters. Guests were moved by the challenges that Noah and his family have faced since his diagnosis.
The money raised on the night will help fund the services provided by Candlelighters for families like Noah’s. Candlelighters is Yorkshire’s children’s cancer charity, which for nearly 50 years has been a lifeline for families when their child has been diagnosed with cancer, providing a huge range of support and investing in vital research.
Paul Meehan, said “”It has been an absolute honour to be involved in this event, to meet Candlelighters families, team members and supporters, and to help raise invaluable funds to keep this support available for families facing every parent’s biggest fear – childhood cancer.”
Emily Wragg, CEO of Candlelighters attended the evening. She said “The Pink Party Ball was a truly wonderful evening. We’re so thankful to everyone involved — from the amazing organising committee, to the generosity of the many people behind the scenes who helped make this night happen, to every guest who contributed to such an incredible night. It was inspiring to see so many people coming together to make a difference for children with cancer and their families.
“We don’t receive any government funding, so the support we’re able to give children and families facing childhood cancer is all possible because of the amazing community of supporters across Yorkshire. Whether that’s arranging events like the Pink Party Ball, taking on a personal challenge, or running a bake sale, we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who comes together for children with cancer and their families.”
