From Barista to Business Owner: Young Entrepreneur Proves Dreams Can Come True

Rosie Culley, a former employee of Paddy & Scott’s, always dreamed of owning her own café and now she has.

On Tuesday 30th May, Rosie will open the doors to Rose + Thorn, an awesome little café on Main Street, Harwich.

Coffee firm, Paddy & Scott’s could have been disgruntled to lose such a bright and ambitious employee, but that’s not their style. Instead, they worked closely with Rosie to ensure her new venture is set up for success.

From navigating the tricky waters of business plans and profit and loss, to branding, negotiations, suppliers, loans, contracts, coffee, and equipment – they covered it all together!

Rosie Culley comments, “I used to drop by this café before heading to the train station for work. When it closed down, I knew I had to make it happen. Harwich may be a small town, but it has a large community at its core. I have gained a lot of knowledge, and to come back to my roots and provide a new perspective and offering to this incredible community means a great deal to me.”

Jon Reed, CEO of Paddy & Scott’s adds, “Rosie is now the 8th employee we’ve helped set up their own business in recent times – we’re not just about selling coffee, we’re committed to fuelling ambition.”

Rose + Thorn is situated at 469 Main Road, CO12 4HT and will offer a menu of cakes and pastries, alongside top quality barista coffee.
