MANCHESTER - 22 July 2025

LSC, a fast-growing provider of primary school teacher PPA cover and out of school clubs, has acquired the primary school physical education and activity specialist Bee Active.

Stoke-on-Trent-based Bee Active, which works with over 50 partner schools and delivers more than 30 different holiday and school clubs around Staffordshire, was founded by brothers Ben and Bobby Mills in 2013, both of whom will remain in the business and support its continued growth following the acquisition.

The acquisition was self-funded by Stockport-headquartered LSC. It provides a geographical bridge between the company’s operations in Greater Manchester and the West Midlands, a market it entered last year with the acquisition of Central Education Group.

Following this transaction LSC now employs 285 people, working with 185 primary schools, delivering more than 1,400 lessons or sessions per week and 45 holiday clubs, for 25,000 children.

LSC provides specialist teachers of modern foreign languages (MFL), drama, PE, art and music. In addition to providing PPA cover lessons to enable regular class teachers to focus on planning, preparation and assessment, LSC also provides before-and-after school and holiday clubs.

LSC was founded in 2006 by the entrepreneur Craig Brennan. It currently covers a geographical area stretching from Leeds down to London, supported by its central support team in Stockport.

The business made its first acquisition in 2018 and has since doubled down on a strategy of purchasing smaller PPA and wraparound childcare providers, taking advantage of LSC’s central finance, HR and sales and marketing operation, and consolidating what continues to be a fragmented sector. The acquisition of Bee Active was the latest step toward LSC’s goal of becoming the most highly regarded provider of primary school PPA cover in the UK.

Mr Brennan said, “Bee Active complements LSC’s current services, consolidating our presence geographically and adding many new partner schools to our client base. Bee Active has a fantastic team of PE educators and holiday club activity leaders, and we look forward to working with them as we continue to build the business and give children the best chance to achieve their potential.”

LSC received legal advice on the transaction from Ashton-Under-Lyne-based Mark Ryan Solicitor.
