Express Solicitors commits to supporting The Maggie Oliver Foundation

Express Solicitors, the personal injury law firm, has committed to supporting The Maggie Oliver Foundation with the fantastic work they do to support victims of abuse.

The Maggie Oliver Foundation began its life in Rochdale in 2019, founded and chaired by Maggie Oliver, the former Police Detective who resigned from Greater Manchester Police in late 2012 in order to expose the now infamous Rochdale Grooming Scandal. The Maggie Oliver Foundation offers support to survivors and those at risk of childhood sexual abuse and exploitation across the whole of the UK, helping them to live fulfilled and successful lives, by providing access to the support and legal advocacy they greatly deserve.

Claire Reddicen, an Associate Chartered Legal Executive, who has recently joined Manchester-based personal injury firm, Express Solicitors’ and has already worked on a number of these harrowing cases over the years, was instrumental in securing a collaboration between the two North West based organisations.

To help maintain continuation of support, Express Solicitors will now provide legal advice and assistance for victims of abuse who do not know where to turn for help in making a claim for compensation.

Compensation claims for victims of childhood sexual abuse can be made to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) or from Local Authorities or other institutions responsible for their care when the abuse occurred. The claims put forward to the relevant institutions can help fund treatment costs for services which can be difficult to access on the NHS and also help with security for the future.

Previous survivors supported by The Maggie Oliver Foundation have reached out to obtain support from Claire Reddicen and have benefited from increased awards when supported throughout the claim process. Experienced at handling these sensitive cases, Claire ensures all the relevant medical evidence is obtained to establish if psychiatric injuries are linked to the abuse. This type of abuse can often affect the survivor’s working life so loss of past and future earnings can be compensated up to retirement date. Recently, Claire was successful in securing a tenfold increase to a secure a six-figure settlement from the CICA for a victim of sexual abuse.

Express Solicitors’ Managing Partner, James Maxey, comments on the partnership: “Claire has as a longstanding relationship with The Maggie Oliver Foundation and with our ethos and values very much aligned, it was a natural progression to continue to support our new employee, Claire, with dedicated time to continue to recover compensation for more survivors of abuse, supporting them on their journey to justice and helping them rebuild their futures.”

Maggie Oliver, Founder and chair of The Maggie Oliver Foundation, adds: “Working with Express, we will be able to reach even more victims and raise awareness of the legal help available to them. Having specialists support services that can help survivors of abuse achieve justice is a crucial step on the path to recovery.”

Express Solicitors continues to grow at pace, while remaining true to its mission to deliver access to justice through legal services that meet the needs of its clients. The personal injury law firm is proud of the work it has delivered to survivors who are supported by The Maggie Oliver Foundation and aims to continue to support more in rebuilding their futures.

Currently Express is preparing to consolidate its employees from four buildings in the Northenden area to one £4.4 million head office building, a mile away from its current Manchester head offices, which can accommodate over 1,000 staff.
