DATA: The best tech cities in the US, revealed…
My client Layla Acharya who is the founder of educational resource website https://edwize.org/about/ has been receiving a lot of enquiries into tech courses recently so decided to create a full data index on where the best cities in the US are for tech careers, using the top 50 US cities by population.
The index looks at the following data points:
– Population
– Average salary of tech jobs ($)
– Average broadband speed per city
– Rent per month (1 bed central apartment)
– Number of tech jobs
Using these points, we were able to create a ranking system to showcase the key hooks (as follows):
– Arlington crowned No.1, with a whopping average salary of $91,988 and over 10,400 jobs currently available related to tech.
– Baltimore, Washington, Atlanta and Boston make up the top 5.
– Surprisingly, the likes of Seattle only rank 9th.
– Both LA and San Francisco both appear in the bottom 5.

“Tech is always the most searched for section on my website, with coding course reviews getting nearly double the amount of views compared to some of the others. It’s a bit of a surprise to see some of the ‘lesser known tech cities’ ranking really well in the report and equally surprising to see some of the big players ranking further down. As an Indian-American myself, we do face tougher circumstances around job hunting, so using this type of data can really help anyone looking to pursue a career in tech, find the best opportunity”
