RedNote, a major Chinese lifestyle and social commerce platform, has implemented stricter regulations on AI-generated content and account governance. The platform now requires AI-generated content to be labelled and has taken action against accounts using AI for automated posting and fake interactions, resulting in account suspensions and content removals. This move is significant for international brands and creators as it highlights increased scrutiny and expectations for authenticity and transparency in AI content on the platform.

Press Release

LONDON, UK - March 27, 2026

Gogetop Marketing, a London-based cross-border marketing and communications agency, said a series of RedNote platform notices issued from February to March point to a broader tightening of AI, content and account governance on one of China’s leading lifestyle and social commerce platforms.

According to the platform’s published notices, RedNote first said on Feb. 12 that AI-generated synthetic content should be proactively labelled, and then announced new governance measures on March 10 targeting so-called AI-run or AI-hosted accounts that simulate real users through automated posting and fake interactions. China Daily separately reported that the platform said serious violations could lead to account bans.

In another platform notice, RedNote said a February campaign targeting AI-generated false or misleading commercial information had led to the handling of more than 800 violating pieces of content and 11 accounts. The platform said the violations included fabricated claims about company operations and products, coordinated negative content targeting businesses, and large-scale duplication of false material using AI tools. The company also published examples of accounts that it said had been suspended for 30 days in connection with AI-generated business misinformation, according to the screenshots provided by the user.

Gogetop Marketing said the wider pattern of March notices suggests that RedNote’s enforcement focus has moved beyond isolated content moderation to a broader governance framework covering AI-generated works, AI-run accounts, AI “teaching” content designed to evade review, disguised commercial reviews, and contact-sharing or traffic-diversion behaviour, based on the official platform slides shared by the user.

“The significance is not only that RedNote is removing violating content,” said Ann Zhu of Gogetop Marketing. “It is also setting clearer rules for how creators, brands and operators can use AI, how content must be labelled, and how authenticity is being defined on the platform.”

Gogetop Marketing said the developments matter for international brands, agencies and creators using RedNote because they point to stricter expectations around authenticity, disclosure, account operation and commercial conduct at a time of rising scrutiny of AI-generated content in China’s digital ecosystem.
