Cheshire & Warrington 4.0 shows SMEs the road to Net Zero

Cheshire & Warrington 4.0 has partnered with ECO-I NW, a network of six North West universities, to present a practical roadmap to Net Zero for SMEs on February 28th.

Featuring expert contributors from Bentley Motors, DHL, Autac Products, Tithebarn and Klarity 4.0 HR, the event held at Sci-Tech Daresbury will provide insights into how emerging technologies can be employed to help reduce costs, improve efficiencies and ultimately support SMEs to operate in a more environmentally sustainable way.

This event will identify the decarbonisation challenges that all SMEs are facing and how they can be addressed through the adoption of digital technologies.

Attendees will also benefit from technical demonstrations, showcasing practical technologies that can support SME manufacturers in the region.

The £5.6m CW4.0 initiative was launched to help the region’s manufacturing SMEs to become more competitive and productive. The first SME businesses to benefit from CW4.0’s support have already gone on to invest a combined £91,390 in adopting new technologies in addition to launching new products and processes.

Craig Beck, CW4.0 Engagement Lead at the VEC said: “Decarbonising processes and products can provide SMEs with a competitive edge when competing for new business and investment.

“CW4.0 was established to support manufacturers in the region, by plugging them into the wealth of expertise and next-generation technologies available on their doorsteps to innovate and overcome real-world challenges. Events like this give SMEs a great chance to meet, learn, network and share with other local businesses facing the same challenges.”

CW4.0 is being delivered by a consortium of North West organisations with decades of experience in helping businesses through their digital transformation. It is led by the University of Liverpool’s Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC), in partnership with the Science and Technology Facilities Council, Liverpool John Moore’s University, and the Northern Automotive Alliance. The initiative is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
