EDITORIAL INSIGHT: Context, industry insight and market perspectives of this news story

Recognition by the Slow Wine Guide is often seen as a mark of credibility for Italian producers focused on sustainable practices, and inclusion can raise a winery’s profile among wine professionals and consumers who prioritise environmental stewardship. For a relatively young estate such as Belvedere1, being listed for the first time may offer new opportunities to reach a wider audience within Italy’s competitive fine wine sector.

While the Slow Wine Guide evaluates hundreds of wineries each year, its emphasis on agricultural methods and respect for heritage aligns with increasing attention to sustainability and provenance in food and drink. For producers in Tuscany, where tradition and innovation frequently intersect, such recognition can serve as an endorsement of both quality and responsible land management.

Belvedere1 Winery has been selected as a new entry in the Slow Wine 2027 Guide, published by Slow Food. The guide considers Italian wine through the wines themselves and the people, territories and agricultural practices that shape them. In its notification to Belvedere1, the Slow Wine team recognised the winery’s dedication, the quality of its work and its respect for the land. For the Belvedere1 team, inclusion in the guide reflects an approach that begins in the vineyard and carries through to the cellar.

Founded by Natacha Fazal-Karim, Belvedere1 is the winery of One Belvedere Tuscany. Its approximately 10 hectares of vineyards grow within an agricultural landscape that also includes olive groves, gardens and woodland. Among them is a vineyard planted in 1965 that preserves traditional Tuscan grape varieties, connecting the winery’s work today with the estate’s longer history of cultivation. The team harvests by hand and farms without herbicides or pesticides. In the cellar, each grape variety is vinified separately, with spontaneous fermentation and a minimal intervention approach intended to let the character of the fruit and vintage come through.

Belvedere1’s wines include Belvedere1 Chianti Classico DOCG and Tenuta de’ Carfini Chianti Classico DOCG, both made from Sangiovese. Its Toscana IGT range includes the reds Primo Rosso and Balvede, the Trebbiano wines Amphiteatro Bianco and Amphiteatro Orange, and the Sangiovese rosé N Rosato. Together, they offer different expressions of the estate’s vineyards, grape varieties and winemaking choices.

“Being included in Slow Wine is meaningful to everyone who works at Belvedere1,” said Natacha Fazal-Karim, founder of Belvedere1 Winery. “We want our wines to speak honestly of this land and of the care that goes into growing them. I am grateful to our team for bringing that commitment to life every day.”

Belvedere1 participated in the Slow Wine Fair in Bologna in February 2026. The winery team will also attend the presentation of the Slow Wine 2027 Guide in Milan on 17 October 2026.
