EDITORIAL INSIGHT: Context, industry insight and market perspectives of this news story

Community events such as this are a familiar part of the marketing approach for new housing developments, aiming to build local engagement and foster a sense of belonging among residents. For homebuilders, these gatherings can also serve as an opportunity to showcase the development’s amenities and progress, while providing a touchpoint for potential buyers to interact with staff and existing homeowners in a relaxed setting.

With most of the homes at Bishops Gate already sold, the event reflects both the ongoing demand for new-build properties in the Beverley area and the importance placed on community-building by developers. For local residents, such activities may help ease the transition into a new neighbourhood, encouraging connections that can support longer-term settlement and satisfaction.

Local residents at Bellway Yorkshire’s Bishops Gate development in Beverley came together for an afternoon of family fun on Saturday, as the homebuilder hosted a special community event. The day featured live singer and guitarist Clark Howard, a bouncy castle and an ice cream van. Bellway staff were there to provide expert advice, book appointments and take reservations.

Melanie Smith, sales director for Bellway Yorkshire said: “Creating a new development is about much more than building homes, it’s about creating a community where people can get to know their neighbours, put down roots and feel a real sense of belonging.”

On the day, two plots were sold at Bishops Gate, with two families choosing Bishops Gate as their new place to call home.

“Bishops Gate has developed into a fantastic community and we wanted to organise an afternoon where our homeowners could come together, meet other families living on the development and have some fun. It was a lovely afternoon seeing everyone enjoying themselves and making the most of the open space at Bishops Gate.”

Being constructed on an 11-hectare site off Woodmansey Mile, Bellway’s Bishop’s Gate development comprises 183 new homes; 80 per cent of which have already sold.

All of Bellway’s homes are built with today’s buyers in mind; offering modern layouts, high-quality finishes and flexible living spaces that suit contemporary lifestyles. All newly built Bellway homes also include an array of energy-saving features, such as solar PV panels, EV car chargers, Smart Thermostats and increased insulation – all of which help cut the costs of running a home.
