Award winning digital agency team look forward to healthy future with NHS projects

From explaining the role of maternity support workers to promoting the journey of clinical training programmes, award winning video and animation agency Stone’s Throw Media are looking forward to a healthy future following a string of NHS successes.

Stone’s Throw Media have worked with the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Birmingham & Solihull NHS Trust since 2019 and after developing these relationships, have now secured a strong pipeline of digital projects.

Leading Wolverhampton-based digital agency Stone’s Throw Media are delivering further animation projects covering topics from dementia, inclusivity, diversity and equality to patient check-up and maternity videos.

Stone’s Throw Media co-founder Matt Weston said: “We have worked with the Royal Wolverhampton NHS and Birmingham & Solihull NHS Trusts since 2019 on a wide variety of projects which capture different aspects of the healthcare system. Our brief is to communicate messages to a range of audiences in the most effective way.

“We really enjoy the relationship we have and are thrilled to have secured a number of projects for these clients for 2023. No two jobs are the same and we feel honoured to be able to document and communicate vital information on behalf of the trusts.”

The latest projects include a medical explainer animation video explaining the changes to the integrated care system.

The client wanted to be able to convey a large amount of complicated information in a simple and engaging way. The Stone’s Throw Media team produced a video using motion graphics showing people at various stages of health to explain that the combined trust is all inclusive.

An explainer video was also created to promote the role of maternity link support workers. The animation highlighted the workers’ role and the part they play in supporting mothers during pregnancy where English is not their first language.

The team also produced a video to show expectant mums the facilities and experiences they can expect at New Cross Hospital’s maternity unit.

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust’s Parent Education Midwife Nicola Hawker said: “Stone’s Throw Media have a unique way of bringing our messages to life in a creative and engaging way.

“Since our relationship began in 2019 we have worked on a variety of projects and look forward to seeing what innovative ways the Stone’s Throw team can illustrate our important work in 2023 and beyond.”

Birmingham & Solihull Integrated Care Trusts Acting Deputy Director of Strategy & Head of Communications, Amos Mallard commented: “Stone’s Throw Media meet our brief in making important information available to as many communities as possible. Their work is engaging which means we can explain complex issues to our target audiences.”

Stone’s Throw Media co-founder Mike Chinn commented: “It’s great to be involved in what the NHS does to help inform the public. The NHS provide an amazing service, so to be part of their world is a great feeling.”

Stone’s Throw Media was launched in 2011 by founders Mike Chinn and Matt Weston after they met on a University of Wolverhampton media course. The founders bill Stone’s Throw Media as being for clients “looking to grow” through video, animation and livestreaming events, with staffing growing to ten this year as revenues and profits grew to new highs.

Based at Wolverhampton Science Park, Stone’s Throw, whose clients include leading brands JLR, Briggs, Greene King and the City of Wolverhampton College, were named as small business of the year at the 2022 Express & Star Apprenticeship Awards.
