Winter might have brought wet weather and plummeting temperatures, but proudly Lancaster-based ICS Accounting are basking in the warmth of a major industry award for the second year in a row.
Established in 2002 and located at Caton Road’s Lancaster Business Park, the firm specialize in providing comprehensive accountancy solutions for every size of business, from self-employed freelancers and contractors, up to Public Limited Companies.
Now their exceptional performance, positive customer feedback and strong word of mouth recommendations have contributed to record industry acclamation, winning Best Contractor Accountancy at The Contracting Awards 2025, two years running.
The black-tie ceremony, held at the 5-star Park Lane Hilton in London, brought together leading providers from across the contracting and financial services sector. For ICS Accounting, the win represents not only national recognition but powerful endorsement of their client-first approach, high compliance standards, and the strength of their team.
“We were absolutely thrilled just to be shortlisted again, and for three categories this year,” says Colin Thompson, Commercial Director. “To win Best Contractor Accountancy for the second year running is incredible. I’m so proud of the team, and thrilled to represent the strength and quality of the North West business community to a wide selection of industry leaders and experts.”
Shortlisted every year since the awards launched in 2019, judges praised the firm’s client feedback, high service standards, and the strength of their Google and Trustpilot reviews, areas the ICS team place at the heart of their mantra: ‘Trust, Care and Compliance’.
“Client feedback was again a key part of the judging criteria,” explains Colin. “Knowing that our service quality, responsiveness and care stand out nationally means a huge amount to us. Winning twice isn’t the goal in itself; it’s the confidence that we’re doing things the right way, and the inspiration to raising the bar for how contractor accountancy can support businesses”.
Remaining loyal to their Lancashire roots. ICS Accounting continues to support local initiatives including St John’s Hospice, Lancaster & District Homeless Action, and Lancaster City Military Veterans, expanding their community engagement, charity partnerships and school involvement throughout 2025 and beyond.
With more individuals choosing self-employment, contracting and flexible working models, they are increasingly focused on helping people navigate the growing complexity of tax and compliance in turbulent fiscal and regulatory times, recognised by also reaching the finals in Best Umbrella Company and Best Umbrella Company Customer Service categories.
“For many start-ups and those working as contractors especially, the financial side can feel overwhelming,” says Colin. “Our job is to take that pressure off people’s shoulders so they can focus on their work, their goal, and growing their business. The better we support the workforce and business community, the healthier our local and national economy becomes.”
