This holiday season, Up With Paper, the original pop-up greeting card company, is launching Cards From the Heart, a campaign to spread joy and connection to seniors in care facilities.
For every order placed through the Up With Paper or UWP Luxe websites, the company will donate a handwritten card to a senior experiencing loneliness or isolation. The cards are written with warmth and intention, and delivered through a partnership with Love For Our Elders, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting loneliness with love, one letter at a time.
“Loneliness is a public health crisis. In a world full of noise, true connection is the remedy to the silence of loneliness,” says Jacob Cramer, Founder of Love For Our Elders. “We’re honored to partner with Up With Paper on their heartfelt mission to deliver 1,500 handwritten cards to seniors this Christmas. Every order brings us closer and there’s nothing like seeing the smile you’re giving to a person who needs it.” Cards will be delivered to nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Connecticut and Ohio, where many seniors face the holidays without family or visitors. Customers can personalize their impact by submitting a message to be handwritten in the donated card. The campaign runs through December 8, and all cards will be handwritten and delivered by the team at Up With Paper just before the holidays.
Why It Matters
Loneliness affects millions of seniors, 61% report moderate loneliness, and 35% report severe loneliness. Receiving personal mail has been shown to improve mental health and emotional well-being.
