Partou Longlevens Day Nursery and Pre-school in Gloucester has been awarded a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted across with team members praised for being “attentive and caring to the needs of children.”
Located close to Gloucester city centre, Partou Longlevens provides high-quality day nursery care and early years education for children up to the age of five.
Its exciting indoor environments are packed with fun resources that awaken creativity, stimulate learning and develop essential skills.
Outside, its spacious garden area is equipped with a pirate ship slide, sensory patch and vegetable plot.
In her official report, the Ofsted inspector notes that Partou Longlevens team members prioritise getting to know children and their families as soon as they arrive at the setting.
“This helps children and staff to form strong bonds, helping children to feel safe, valued and secure,” she writes. “As a result, children settle quickly and grow in confidence. Staff provide children with an interesting environment where they have opportunities to explore and make their own choices in their play. This motivates and encourages children to be independent and explore using their own ideas. As children play imaginatively, staff follow their lead.”
The nursery is commended for creating a curriculum “that clearly reflects what the want children to learn.” The report continues: “Staff focus on helping children build the skills they need to progress to the next stage of their learning alongside using children’s interests.”
The inspector references “a clear focus on promoting children’s communication and language development.” She adds: “Staff frequently read with children, narrate as they play, introduce new language and use children’s love of singing to engage them.”
Partnerships between Partou Longlevens team members and families are described as “strong” with the report highlighting that “parents reflect positively on the individual support their children receive.”
Children’s learning is monitored closely, with any gaps “swiftly identified” to enable support to be put in place. The inspector comments: “Staff have a good understanding of how to support children’s learning. They work in close partnership with staff and parents to develop personalised plans that address each child’s individual needs.”
And safeguarding arrangements are judged to be “effective” thanks to “an open and positive culture” that “puts children’s interests first.”
