New York City is set to host an unforgettable cultural experience with the 48th Annual Hare Krishna Parade and Festival, also known as Ratha Yatra or the Festival of Chariots, on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The festivities will kick off with the Ratha Yatra, a beloved ancient festival celebrated by Hindus worldwide. The parade will illuminate New York’s iconic Fifth Avenue, starting at E 45th Street and concluding at Washington Square Park. Expect to be mesmerized by the sight of three majestic hand-pulled chariots, each towering 50 feet high and adorned with vibrant red, yellow, and green cloth canopies, as they gracefully make their way along the parade route.
This exceptional event, one of only five parades permitted on 5th Avenue, will attract thousands of jubilant participants who will dance, sing, and play traditional rhythmic drums and cymbals, creating an atmosphere of pure joy and devotion.
At Washington Square Park, the main festival site will feature a captivating array of music, cultural, and spiritual performances by esteemed professional artists and talented local community groups.
