Hundreds of vacancies on offer at Leicestershire job fair later this month

Hundreds of jobs in sectors including health and social care, hospitality and transport will be up for grabs at a job fair in Blaby district later this month.

Blaby District Council’s third major job fair of the year will be held at Everards Meadows on Wednesday, September 14, from 11.30am to 4pm.

A variety of local and national employers will be on hand to discuss their full and part-time opportunities as well as apprenticeships, with hundreds of vacancies and roles for a variety of jobseekers.

There will be a particular focus on roles in the care sector and opportunities for school and college leavers who have just completed their GCSEs and A-Levels.

The council’s last jobs fair at the same venue in June attracted just under 200 visitors.

Employers attending on the day will include Hilton Leicester; Inspired to Care; Busy Bees Nurseries; Freed of London Ltd (Blaby); Leicestershire County Council; Serco – recruiting for vacancies at HMP Fosse Way; Avon; Marriott Leicester; Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust; Barnardo’s; Leicester Employment Hub; Optima UK; Arriva Midlands and Palmers Garden Centre.

There will be support for those needing help with job seeking, training and development from the National Careers Service, while The Prince’s Trust will also be on hand to offer help with free courses, grants and mentoring opportunities.

The Department for Work and Pensions will be at the event to offer support and advice to jobseekers and Leicester College will also be on hand to offer advice on training and apprenticeships.

Councillor Sharon Coe, Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing, Community Engagement and Business Support, said: “This is the fourth recruitment event we have run in the last year and it is the third hosted by Everards, we are very fortunate to has so many local businesses with lots of exciting opportunities”.

“Alongside the many employers, we have organisations offering support for those needing help with preparing CV’s and interviews, training opportunities and apprenticeships.”
