From June 26 to 28, 2026, more than 50 free experiences will celebrate food, wine, nature and slow travel in the northernmost village of Lazio
Trevinano (Acquapendente, Lazio), June 2026 — From June 26 to 28, 2026, the village of Trevinano, a hamlet of Acquapendente and the northernmost outpost of Lazio, will host the first edition of Slow Move Fest, a new festival dedicated to slow tourism in Italy’s inland areas. The event is organized by Slow Food Viterbo e Tuscia together with the Municipality of Acquapendente, the local Pro Loco and the Community Cooperative of Trevinano.
Trevinano sits at a rare geographical crossroads, on the border between three Italian regions — Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany — and the festival is part of the broader “Ri-Wind” regeneration project for the village, supported by funding from Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The initiative aims to turn Trevinano into a permanent laboratory for slow tourism as a model for revitalizing small rural villages and rediscovering the food, wine and landscapes of Italy’s often-overlooked inland territories.
Over three days, Slow Move Fest will offer more than 50 free experiences, ranging from food and wine tastings with local producers to trekking and excursions, children’s workshops, talks, and photography activities, drawing hikers, cyclists, horse riders, food lovers, families and photographers to explore Trevinano and the surrounding area.
Among the festival’s most anticipated highlights:
- A hike across three regions — “Il Cammino dei Tre Confini,” a guided walk through the Monte Rufeno Nature Reserve leading to the exact point where the borders of Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany converge, allowing visitors to step between three regions in just a few paces.
- The launch of an international cooking school by Michelin-starred chef Iside De Cesare, of the renowned restaurant La Parolina, who will present her project for a new international culinary school based in Trevinano.
- “Planta Sonorum,” listening to the ancient trees — a multisensory workshop in the Sasseto Forest of Torre Alfina, where special sensors let visitors literally listen to the sound of centuries-old trees, blending technology and botany.
- In the footsteps of poet Giosuè Carducci — a guided encounter retracing the youth of the celebrated Italian poet, who spent formative years between Trevinano and nearby Celle sul Rigo, in landscapes that shaped his earliest poetic inspiration.
The program also features numerous other experiences of strong gastronomic, cultural and media interest, including: a forest-bathing session at the foot of Monte Rufeno; a tasting workshop dedicated to the ancient legume varieties of the Alta Tuscia; a guided wine experience tracing the “Uva Greca Puntinata” grape, with the presentation of the book Vitigni Rari Italiani; tastings of border-territory wines and natural wines curated by sommeliers and Slow Wine experts; an evening of cheese and cured-meat tasting led by Slow Food trainers; a torchlit “Night of the Fireflies” walk through Monte Rufeno; sunrise and sunset yoga sessions; a documentary photography workshop with award-winning photojournalist Paolo Marchetti; guided tours of the Castle of Torre Alfina and the historic centers of Acquapendente and Trevinano; horseback excursions through the nature reserve; a night of stargazing at the Monte Rufeno astronomical observatory; a masterclass on slow tourism in inland areas organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Rieti-Viterbo; daily farm-to-table street food, folk music, and a street-art performance by Circo Verde, plus a dedicated photography contest open to all visitors.
