An online retail concept built around a single product category is launching this week, bringing together a wide range of products centered on one idea: balls.
Founded by entrepreneur Terri-lyne Gedanitz, The Ball Depot is an e-commerce store featuring more than 1,000 products across sports, kids, fitness, novelty, and pet categories.
The concept is designed to bring together a category that is typically spread across multiple types of retailers. Instead of searching across different stores depending on the use, customers can access a broad selection in one place.
“If it’s a ball, we want it to live here,” says Gedanitz. “Once I started looking at the category, I realized how many parts of everyday life revolve around something as simple as a ball.”
Gedanitz comes from a background in film and creative development and has had the idea for The Ball Depot for more than 15 years before bringing it to market.
The platform offers a wide range of price points, from low-cost everyday items to higher-end specialty products. Categories include sports equipment, children’s play items, fitness and training balls, novelty designs, and pet toys.
The Ball Depot officially launches on April 7, 2026, and ships across Canada and the United States.
New products will be added on an ongoing basis as the platform continues to grow.
For Gedanitz, the concept comes down to something simple.
“Once you start thinking about it, balls are everywhere — sports, kids’ games, pets,” she says.
