Wayfarer Theaters is managing Payson's Stadium Cinemas, continuing its legacy while making renovations to improve the venue. The theater will offer a mix of blockbuster and independent films, aiming to be a community hub with activities and events. This matters as it preserves a local cultural landmark while enhancing its role as a community gathering place.

Press Release

PAYSON, UTAH – April 2026

Wayfarer Theaters is continuing its stewardship of Payson’s longtime community movie theater—formerly Stadium Cinemas—ushering the 25-year landmark into its next chapter while honoring the traditions generations of local families have come to cherish.

“This theater has been part of Payson for a quarter century,” said Wayfarer Theaters Founder and CEO Steve Sarowitz. “We were drawn to this community because it reflects the values we strive to bring to the industry. This isn’t just a theater—it’s where families gather, connect, and make memories.”

Sarowitz will be in Utah and available for interviews with local and regional media from April 28–30.

A Refreshed Experience, Rooted in Tradition

Wayfarer has undertaken thoughtful renovations to the Payson theater, including improved restrooms, updated signage, and aesthetic upgrades—enhancing comfort and functionality while preserving the venue’s familiar character.

Programming reflects Wayfarer’s guiding philosophy: “If it starts in darkness, it should end in light.” The theater continues to feature first-run blockbusters alongside independent, foreign, and classic films that enrich the human spirit.

More Than Movies

Wayfarer envisions the theater as a true community gathering place. Families are invited to arrive early and stay late, enjoying free activities and opportunities for connection. The venue is also available for private rentals, youth groups, special occasions, live events, and filmmaker talkbacks.

“We believe movies should send you home feeling better than when you arrive,” Sarowitz added.
