The Black Mountain Center for the Arts (BMCA) is proud to host The Walker Family Band for a special performance in our theater on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 7:30 pm. This concert offers a unique opportunity for the Swannanoa Valley community to experience their “melting pot” of sound in the intimate setting of our historic former town hall.
The Walker Family Band showcases a remarkable evolution of musical styles. Drawing from a rigorous Suzuki-method foundation, the family has branched into high-energy Irish and soulful Old-Time traditions. The performance features the multi-instrumental expertise of Scott Walker, the jazz-influenced Irish accordion of Landon Walker, and the compelling fiddling and original compositions of Jennie Brunner, a former concertmaster of the Blue Ridge Orchestra.
Adding to the evening’s heartfelt warmth is third-generation rising star Claire Brunner, an emerging Old-Time fiddler and vocalist. This rare gathering of three generations on one stage celebrates a flourishing musical legacy that transcends genres.
“We are thrilled to provide a home for such an incredible musical tradition,” said Claire K. Landis, BMCA Program Coordinator. “The Walker Family Band represents the heart of what we do—celebrating local talent and the power of the arts to connect us.”
Tickets are $15 and offer an affordable way for local families and arts patrons to experience world-class music in their own backyard. Come be a pART of the arts and join us for this vibrant night of connection and creativity.
