Charities, community groups, and grassroots initiatives across South Wales have been self-nominating for a chance of winning up to £1,000 through Pink Storage’s ‘Community Change’ project – and now, three inspiring finalists have been revealed.
Recently launched, the new initiative set out to provide vital funds for good causes making a meaningful difference to others – and the entries didn’t disappoint, with the shortlisted organisations truly representing the heart of South Wales’ community spirit. The final decision now lies in the hands of the public, who are encouraged to vote and help the finalists secure the funding needed to drive their projects forward. These comprise:
Ffrindiau Awel Taf (PTFA of YGG Awel Taf, Rhydyfelin) – After the merger of two schools, nearly 400 pupils at YGG Awel Taf have been left without a suitable outdoor area for play and learning. The PTFA wants to transform the underused space available into a vibrant, engaging environment to support children’s well-being and development. Funding would also help build a stronger school community through events that connect and support families.
Rhydyfelin Netball Club – Established in 2016 with just one ball and a shared passion, Rhydyfelin Netball Club has grown into a welcoming, multi-age club with ten teams focusing on inclusion and empowerment. It seeks funding to support two of its teams attending their first netball tour in four years. The opportunity will help uplift women and girls in the teams and strengthen community ties.
Ynysybwl RFC Minis – Re-launched in 2022, Ynysybwl RFC Minis supports more than 40 young players across three age groups, offering free access to play rugby. The club would like to install a refreshment container at the Recreation Ground, boosting self-sustainability and helping fund essential resources like vital equipment. Its goal is to make rugby accessible to every child, building skills and community pride.

Voting is simple: visit Pink Self Storage’s Facebook page, find the pinned post at the top of the feed featuring the three finalists, and in the comment section, submit the name of the project you believe deserves to win.
The project with the most votes after midnight on the 5th June, 2025, will be awarded £1,000, while the two runners-up will receive £200 each to further their efforts.
