The Green Transition Forum (GTF) has announced that Mo Gawdat, former Chief Business Officer of Google X, will join the sixth edition of Central and Eastern Europe’s most influential forum on sustainable transformation.
GTF will take place from the 1st of June to the 5th of June 2026 focusing on the theme ‘Europe’s Next Chapter: Competitive, Innovative, Secure’. The forum will not only welcome Mo, but more speakers will be announced over the coming weeks.
Mo Gawdat spent over thirty years in the technology industry, holding senior positions at IBM, Microsoft and Google before becoming Chief Business Officer at Google X, the company’s secretive research lab responsible for projects like self-driving cars and high altitude internet balloons. It was at Google X that he saw firsthand how quickly artificial intelligence was advancing and what that could mean for the way people live and work.
In his bestselling book Scary Smart: The Future of Artificial Intelligence and How You Can Save Our World, he laid out a case for why the development of AI requires not just technical skill but ethical responsibility, arguing that the choices made in the next few years will determine whether the technology serves humanity or displaces it. He has since become one of the most widely heard voices on the subject, appearing on programmes such as The Diary of a CEO and Impact Theory, where he has warned that AI could begin to replace large numbers of professional roles within the next decade.

His appearance at GTF 6.0 comes at a moment when Europe is actively wrestling with how to regulate and benefit from artificial intelligence. The EU AI Act’s next wave of requirements takes effect in August 2026, just weeks after the forum concludes, making the timing particularly relevant for the business leaders and policymakers who will be in the room.
Mo will not only be at the Forum as a speaker, but he will also be hosting a limited attendance Q&A session where attendees will be able to engage directly with Mo.
