SustainIQ announce new pilot project with Aberdeenshire Council, Aberdeen City Council and Highland Council

SustainIQ is delighted to announce a new pilot project with Aberdeenshire Council, Aberdeen City Council and Highland Council.  The one-year pilot project will involve a selection of council contracts and suppliers reporting their sustainability performance on SustainIQ, with a particular focus on community benefits and carbon emissions.

Melanie Mackenzie, Strategic Commercial Manager for the Commercial & Procurement Shared Services, said, “We are committed to maximising the positive impact that the three Councils can have on our communities and environment by embedding sustainability throughout our contracts.

“We understand the importance of measuring our impact and we believe our partnership with SustainIQ provides an opportunity to trial a digital solution that not only provides us with useful statistics, but also details of the impact our contracts and supply chain are having across our region”.

Members of the supply chain working on Council contracts will use SustainIQ to report on the Council’s Community Plan commitments including apprenticeship and placement opportunities, training and development, community initiatives, volunteering, diversity, equality, GHG emissions, waste management and much more.

Liam McEvoy, Co-founder and Director with SustainIQ says, “The whole team is excited to be partnering with Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council and Highland Council to roll out this trial project.

“We believe their approach to community benefits, sustainability and community wealth building across the region puts people and communities at the centre of their strategy.

We are looking forward to increasing the level of sustainability data and therefore transparency they have access to with regards the impact their projects and supply chain are having across their communities”.

The pilot project will launch in March 2023. You can read more about just some of the sustainability initiatives in each Council area at the links below.
