Comedian Russell Kane has revealed the mortifying moment he was left “frozen like a stegosaurus” after his Nan walked in on his 6am “erotic-holics” session.
In a wildly candid chat with Paloma Faith on her Mad Sad Bad podcast, the Live at the Apollo star didn’t hold back as he detailed his journey from “council estate worm” to a man who now “works to brief” in the bedroom.
Recalling the trauma of living in his Nan’s box room at age 19, Russell described the “crescent of paper-based porn” he’d laid out to help him sleep after a night of raving. With his ears ringing so loudly he couldn’t hear a knock, he was left in a naked standoff with his grandmother.
“She just kept eye contact with me,” he cringed.
“She went: ‘I’m sorry love, I’m just so SORRY.’ It’s one of the worst things that ever happened to me.”
But the 50-year-old insists those days of “accidental collisions” in the bedroom are long gone. Now happily married to wife Lindsey, Russell credits her “sexual literacy” with teaching him that real confidence isn’t about owning a fast car or “beating your chest like a toxic silverback.”
“I live with a sexually literate woman, so I have to keep my [wit] about me,” he joked, claiming most sex is just “hope for the best” because people aren’t raised to be in touch with pleasure.
Determined to stop the nation from having “bit of a nightmare” sex, Russel, and wife Lindsey, have channelled that passion into JOLT, the longevity brand they co-founded. Research by the brand found that only 42% of Brits feel in “perfect sync” with their partner, while a staggering 51% are struggling with a “libido mismatch.”
The study of 2,000 UK couples exposed a “faking it” epidemic, with 55% of women and 44% of men admitting they have faked an orgasm just to get the job over with. In attempts to fix this, Russell and Lindsey have since launched JOLT BOLT, a unisex bedroom supplement designed to keep libidos high and the “spark” alive part of Russell’s personal mission to “get Britain banging again.”
The comedian who admitted he used to wear “outrageous eyeliner” and lie about his age to mask his insecurities says he’s finally dropped the act. From teaching himself A-levels “out of a box” to escape a dead-end job, to now bio-hacking his way to peak performance, Russell says the secret to a happy life is simple: “Face your discomfort and do the work.”
Aged 50, Russell admits he is in the best shape of his life, both physically and mentally. Following a headline-grabbing appearance on The Diary of a CEO, where he opened up about the science of “staying young” and the psychological shift required to build true confidence, he has become an example of the true impact of the bio-hacking movement. By combining a “work to brief” philosophy with the longevity focus of JOLT, he’s proving that aging doesn’t have to mean slowing down, completing a total transformation from the insecure kid on a council estate to the fittest he’s ever been.
