Irish Political Uprising from Dublin to London
A rare piece of Irish Political history comes under the hammer this October.
Inscribed Thomas James Clarke IRB, this humble silver-plated calling card tray was presented in September 1898 and has travelled over 300 miles in the past 120 years.
Thomas Clarke, leader of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, took part as a commander in the 1916 Easter Uprising.
Along with the Irish Citizen Army he was stationed at the Post Office headquarters taking an active role after the wounding of James Connelly.
He was captured and later executed with his colleagues after their unsuccessful attempt to establish an Independent Irish Free State.
This silver-plated calling card tray along with a typewritten letter from 8 Granby Place Dublin dated 26.4.1916 is truly a rare piece of Irish political history.
Found during a house clearance in Richmond Surrey the current owner has now decided it’s time to sell.
LIVE under the hammer on Tuesday 8th October, Jeannette May Senior Valuer expects bidders from around the World to have their fingers near keyboards, tablets and iPhones ready to bid on this unique item.
