The BTR Wirral 10K returns in four weeks – and with a month to go, entries have hit the 1,000-mark. The race will be staged on Sunday 11 October starting at 9.30am. This is the 13th staging of the event.
Runners are advised that the route has changed. It will start and finish on King’s Parade in New Brighton, next to The Dips where the Event Village will be located on race day. The last time the race was located near The Dips was in 2021. Once runners cross the start line of the out-and-back race on King’s Parade, they pass the boating lake and make their way along Ian Fraser Walk towards Fort Perch Rock. They then head along the picturesque promenade to the 5K half-way turnaround point at Seacombe Ferry, before making their way back. The race is mostly flat, providing runners with the perfect opportunity to strive for a personal best time. It’s also an ideal event for runners starting to increase their distance or take part in their first 10K race.

The BTR Wirral 10K is the final competitive race of the year and the penultimate event of 2026 for organisers BTR Liverpool. The event calendar will be brought to a spectacular close on Sunday 6 December with the iconic BTR Liverpool Santa Dash – the ultimate kick-start to Christmas in the city, and the biggest festive 5K fun run in the UK.

Numbers are again, and we’ve already raced past last year’s final number still with over a month to go. This is the last competitive BTR race of 2026, and then it’s all systems go as we make final preparations for the iconic Liverpool Santa Dash. “The Wirral 10K is always popular given its location and fairly flat route – and we’re on-course to sell out of places. It’s the perfect race for runners to really test themselves and aim for a personal best. We look forward to welcoming runners, volunteers, and spectators to The Dips in New Brighton on 11 October.”
Runners are advised there are planned works on the Merseyrail Northern Line on event day, which will impact travel into Liverpool city centre. They are encouraged to plan their journey ahead of time, and to allow extra time if using rail services. Northern Line trains from the North will terminate at Sandhills, and from the South they will terminate at Hunts Cross. There will be replacement buses from Sandhills and Hunts Cross into the city centre. The works also mean that all Wirral Line services will run from James Street Station.
BTR Liverpool is supporting 10 charities across the 2026 event portfolio. Participants can support their vital work by fundraising and representing them on race day.
