Press Release

LONG BEACH, CA - April 2, 2026

This Spring 2026, PIP (Pretty in Plastic) marks 20 years at the forefront of fabrication and creative production. After two decades of artist-led fabrication and cultural production, PIP enters its next chapter with an expanded turnkey model—deepening creative partnerships and launching Studio 33, a new Long Beach-based campus that brings fabrication, creative services, and community-facing programming under one roof.

The timing is intentional. Coming off a landmark 2025, PIP delivered a standout slate of projects spanning music, museums, brand collaborations, limited-edition objects, large-scale fabrication, and public art installations, further cementing the studio as a trusted partner for artists, institutions, and creative decision-makers. Notable 2025 work includes fabrication support for Lauren Halsey’s newly opened Sister Dreamer sculptural park in South Central Los Angeles; a wide range of projects for Tyler, the Creator, from collectible figures to large-scale sculptural installations and custom performance props; and fabrication for artist Karon Davis’ Descendant, presented as part of MONUMENTS at MOCA in collaboration with The Brick. Additional highlights include a custom commission for Rashaad Newsome at Google’s Visitor Center and Creative Space in Mountain View, as well as cultural and brand projects for partners such as Nike and Spotify’s prestigious awards program. Additional projects spanning 2006 to 2026 will be available on PIP’s website.

In 2026, PIP will expand its inclusive approach to offer one-stop creative services through its in-house creative agency, supporting clients not only with fabrication and installation but also with concept development and creative strategy, through marketing, launch, and public-facing storytelling. The expansion formalizes what PIP has increasingly been doing behind the scenes, serving as a hands-on creative partner for teams that need both imagination and execution and want their work to land with impact.

“People come to us because they want it done right, thoughtfully, collaboratively, and at a level that holds up in the real world,” said founder Julie B. “Hitting 20 years feels like the right moment to make the bigger vision official, supporting projects from the first idea all the way to launch.”

That bigger vision takes physical form in Studio 33, PIP’s newly acquired Long Beach space and multi-use creative campus in a historic Art Deco building on the Broadway Corridor, designed to house fabrication, a creative services wing, gallery, and retail components, media production capabilities, and community-facing programming. For Julie B., Studio 33 represents a long-held vision: building a place where serious craft and high-level innovation live alongside access, warmth, and creative opportunity.

“Studio 33 is about bringing people in,” Julie B. added. “It’s a space where emerging and established creatives can be in the same orbit, making work, sharing work, and building the kind of connections that move careers forward.”

Studio 33 programming will include a curated calendar of exhibitions, workshops, pop-ups, and special events, along with production and content capabilities to help artists and creative teams document, launch, and amplify their work. Additional announcements, including opening timelines, inaugural programming, and community partnerships, will be released throughout 2026.
