Peymo has launched a hybrid banking app that allows global retail merchants to accept stablecoin payments using QR codes, addressing the lack of infrastructure for digital currency transactions in physical stores. This app eliminates the need for expensive hardware and complex software, enabling businesses to process digital payments easily and receive instant settlement. The initiative aims to make spending digital assets as straightforward as using cash or cards, with future plans to expand into e-commerce and other financial services.

Peymo, a developer of financial technology software, has launched a hybrid merchant banking application designed to integrate digital asset settlement into traditional retail operations. While industry data estimates that over 580 million individuals globally hold digital currencies, fewer than 0.1% of physical storefronts are equipped to process them at checkout. Peymo’s new application directly addresses this infrastructure gap by enabling businesses to accept stablecoins natively.

The mobile software removes the high-cost hardware barriers traditionally associated with digital currency point-of-sale systems. Instead of purchasing specialized electronic terminals or building custom software integrations, local businesses can download the platform, establish a corporate account, and instantly process point-of-sale transactions.

“The digital asset industry does not suffer from an adoption deficit; it suffers from a usability bottleneck,” stated Tomas Bartos, CEO of Peymo. “Hundreds of millions of people hold digital assets, but the ability to spend them as seamlessly as physical cash or traditional bank cards has been missing. We believe that real economic utility begins when everyday consumers can complete routine purchases easily, and changing that experience begins with a basic QR code.”

The standard operational workflow functions through a simplified, four-step digital architecture. To accept a transaction, a merchant inputs the specific payment amount directly into the merchant application. The platform immediately generates a unique transaction QR code on the business screen. The customer then scans the code using the consumer application interface, allowing the decentralized network to authorize and complete the payment protocol within seconds.

By eliminating traditional merchant payment hardware, the system bypasses complex onboarding cycles and the high-cost infrastructure fees tied to legacy credit networks. Furthermore, because the platform operates on distributed ledger technology, merchants receive instant settlement of stablecoins, avoiding the multi-day clearing delays common within traditional financial banking networks.

The current QR code billing feature serves as the foundational tier for a larger fintech rollout. Peymo is currently building out an end-to-end financial ecosystem intended to bridge decentralized payment networks with legacy financial institutions. Future iterations of the software include API integrations for e-commerce websites built on WooCommerce, Wix, and Shopify, as well as multi-currency corporate banking accounts, cross-border payment rails, Visa payment card programs, and automated bookkeeping tools driven by artificial intelligence.
