Single-API integration lets hospitality merchants accept card or cryptocurrency at checkout and settle in either fiat or crypt

PEYMO, the AI-powered hybrid banking and crypto-fiat payments platform, has opened its merchant checkout to the hospitality sector. The integration allows hotels, online booking platforms, and travel operators to accept both card and cryptocurrency payments through a single API, with the option to receive settlement in either fiat currency or crypto.

The checkout is available to hospitality merchants in the more than 120 countries already supported by PEYMO’s virtual account infrastructure.

At the point of payment, guests choose either “Pay by Card” or “Pay with Crypto”. Where crypto is selected and the merchant has elected fiat settlement, the transaction is converted at market rate in real time. The payment arrives in the merchant’s bank account in fiat; the guest experience matches a standard card transaction.

Hospitality use cases

The checkout supports the full hospitality payment journey: room bookings, payment at reception, food and beverage, spa and wellness services, retail spend within hotel properties, and digital tipping. Merchants integrate through PEYMO’s API and continue to use their existing operational systems.

PEYMO designed the solution to address two long-standing barriers to merchant crypto acceptance: price volatility and the operational complexity of handling digital assets. Fiat settlement removes both. Merchants who prefer to hold crypto can elect to receive payment in the original currency.

Market context

Industry estimates place the global number of cryptocurrency holders at more than half a billion. Hotels and booking platforms have begun to evaluate digital-asset acceptance as a way to reduce cross-border payment friction and to serve international guests who already hold cryptocurrency.

Quote

“Hotels and booking platforms have told us they need one checkout that handles card and crypto without disrupting their existing operations,” said Tomas Bartos, CEO and Co-Founder of PEYMO. “That is what we have built. The merchant sees a payment land in fiat. The guest sees a checkout that works the same way every other online checkout works. The crypto layer is invisible to both sides.”
