Performers Theatre Company launches its next stage production, kicking off auditions this month

THE search is on for the cast in a theatre school’s newest production.

The spotlight is shining bright on young aspiring actors, dancers, and singers as Performers Theatre Company, based in Havant, gears up for its next production, Matilda Jr.

Open auditions for the cast of Performers Theatre Company’s newest production will take place on September 29, inviting youngsters aged between six and 18 to show off their talents to earn a place in the cast.

Held at Park Community School, the auditions will be open to all, regardless of their current association with Performers Theatre Company.

Matilda Jr, an adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic, follows the success of Performers’ inaugural production, Annie Jr.

Behind the scenes, the production boasts the choreography of local talent, including Beverley Norton and Shellie Hart, who will lead the musical direction.

Principal of Performers Theatre Company, Sam Gibbs, is encouraging all youngsters, regardless of their industry experience, to come along to audition.

He said: “This production is a golden opportunity for young talent, regardless of experience, to experience the captivating world of performing arts. They’ll not only learn about the industry but also forge connections with like-minded individuals and form lasting friendships. It’s a great first step for someone hoping to get into performing arts but is also valuable experience for young people who have already started their journey.”

Sam is growing the company even further by expanding into the Fareham area, adding an additional class at Henry Cort School from September 8.

These classes will be taught by the esteemed Georgia Deloise, who recently played Truly Scrumptious in The King’s Theatre’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Sam said: ‘It’s a really exciting time for us here at Performers. We’ve got some of the best local talent in the industry helping us to grow and expand even further. It’s just so rewarding seeing these kids flourish and grow so much in their confidence and it makes me really proud of what I do.’

Matilda auditions will be from 6pm until 9pm, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all aspiring talents.
