Perceptive Communicators appoints specialist team for further growth in science and public affairs

Award-winning Glasgow-based communications consultancy Perceptive Communicators has made two specialist appointments, with Sophie Newington joining as Communications Consultant and Jack Hope appointed to a newly created Public Affairs and Public Relations Manager role.

Sophie Newington joins Perceptive from Weber Shandwick, where she spent nearly five  years working across both London and Glasgow practices. Sophie is a specialist in life sciences including biotech, medtech and pharmaceuticals. Sophie was recently recognised by PharmaTimes as ‘Aspiring Communications Manager of the Year’.

Jack Hope has over five years’ communication experience working in politics in both the UK and Scottish parliaments. Prior to joining Perceptive, he worked with a government minister and has worked directly with several Scottish politicians.

Sophie and Jack’s appointments build on the diverse talent at Perceptive and follow Perceptive’s most successful year to date. This includes outstanding customer service results, including a world class net promoter score of +91, as well as winning award recognition as Property Team of the Year, Homes for Scotland’s Associate Member of the Year and ‘Managing Director of the Year’ at the Scottish Women’s Awards.

Sophie Newington, Communications Consultant, said:

“The UK Government has ambitions to become a global science superpower by 2030, with the recent Science and Technology Framework outlining ambitious investments and a focus on innovation. We help clients, large and small, to benefit from communications that unlock their desired goals and growth opportunities.

“With a global agency background, I have experience across a number of science sectors – from alternative protein to animal health – advising clients on media relations, social media and crisis communications. The focus at Perceptive is a great fit for my skills and I look forward to supporting clients to achieve their mission through effective communications.”

Jack Hope, Public Affairs and Public Relations Manager, said:

“Public affairs is becoming ever more important given the recent political upheaval at both Holyrood and Westminster. More clients are grasping opportunities to engage politically to help achieve their goals.

“At Perceptive, we focus only on science, technology and the built environment, so we have a deep understanding of these sectors and strong relationships with key influencers, including politicians at a senior level. I’m looking forward to using my political experience for the benefit of our clients.”

Julie Moulsdale, Managing Director at Perceptive Communicators, said:

“We’ve just had our best year ever. Sophie and Jack joining our expert team will supercharge this momentum for both Perceptive and our clients.

“Specialising in just science, technology and the built environment, we have the depth of knowledge, senior level expertise and excellent influential contacts to help our clients achieve their goals more quickly and with more certainty. Both Sophie and Jack have great specialist insight and are highly driven to achieve the desired results for our clients who are improving lives and transforming futures every day.”
