EDITORIAL INSIGHT: Context, industry insight and market perspectives of this news story

Recognition in national business awards such as The LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Leaders is often seen as a marker of both individual achievement and wider business impact. For leaders in the advertising and marketing sector, such accolades can serve to highlight the ongoing importance of adaptability and innovation in an industry shaped by rapid technological change and evolving client demands.

While awards themselves do not alter the commercial landscape, they can raise the profile of both the individual and their business, potentially opening doors to new partnerships or talent. For the advertising sector, which continues to navigate the integration of emerging technologies like AI and data-driven production, the acknowledgement of leaders who have demonstrated sustained growth and global reach remains relevant, particularly as agencies seek to differentiate their offerings in a competitive market.

Press Release

London, UK - October 8, 2026

Pat Murphy, founder and CEO of global advertising production consultancy MurphyCobb, has been recognised in The LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Leaders 2026.

The awards were created by private equity investor LDC, part of Lloyds Banking Group,  in partnership with The Times newspaper in 2018. They celebrate entrepreneurs building stronger businesses and a more productive economy by tackling real-world challenges, creating jobs and serving customers and communities better.

Pat was presented with One to Watch at last night’s Top 50 Awards ceremony which took place at BAFTA in London. The Ones to Watch are special commendations given to leaders whose achievements and ambition have already set them apart. Each has made significant progress and shown the potential to take their business even further in the years ahead.

Having established MurphyCobb in London in 2006, Pat has grown this advertising production agency into a global operation, working in 100 countries with a team of over 100 specialist consultants. The company has clients such as Toyota, Mondelez and Reckitt. Under Pat’s leadership, MurphyCobb has continued to keep pace and evolve with the vast changes in advertising over the past 20 years, following the surge of new channels, alternative media and emerging technology which are impacting the industry. Last month, MurphyCobb launched Amplify – a new production innovation and transformation business designed specifically to help clients fully harness the capabilities of emerging technology and AI.

Pat Murphy, founder and CEO of MurphyCobb, said: “Having started my own business 20 years ago, I never expected to still be classed as ‘One to Watch’ today. It is an honour to receive this recognition from The LDC Awards. The industry has changed a lot over the past two decades and I’ve always strived to stay ahead of the curve and ensure that MurphyCobb provides clients with the services and expertise they need to deliver successful campaigns and grow their businesses.

“I remain focused on building something that lasts, strengthening our presence in all new platforms and media channels. The team at MurphyCobb is vital to this and my ambition is to continue to create a business that performs brilliantly because people feel they belong and want to stay.”

John Garner, Managing Partner at LDC, added: “This year’s Ones to Watch have already achieved a great deal, but it is their ambition for what comes next that sets them apart. They are building exciting businesses and have demonstrated the ambition needed to thrive. I would like to congratulate them all on their success so far. We look forward to following their progress and seeing where their ambition takes them next.”

This year The LDC Top 50 attracted more than 620 nominations from across the UK. Together, the businesses of the Top 50 leaders generate £1.4bn in annual revenues and employ almost 8,500 people. Headquartered in 55 towns and cities, they demonstrate the contribution that medium-sized businesses make to their communities and the wider UK economy.
