South Yorkshire developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes oversaw a truly novel costume competition at Hoylandswaine Primary School to celebrate World Book Day (Thursday 2nd March 2023).
Characters from all corners of fiction were in attendance as Sales Adviser Nicola from Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Penning Fold and Penning Ridge developments arrived to judge the best costume.
Nicola, who was also dressed up for the occasion as Wilma from ‘Where’s Wally’, couldn’t possibly choose a single winner, and instead selected two children from each class who shared £100 worth of National Book Token vouchers.
World Book Day is celebrated to inspire reading among children. Its mission is to promote reading for pleasure and education, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.
The global event aims to promote reading and sharing of stories among children of all ages.
Ian Goddard, Headteacher at Hoylandswaine Primary School, said: “It was an incredible day seeing all the children dressed up as characters from a range of authors. Nicola had such a hard job judging the competition as there were so many incredible outfits on display. To have the continued support of Barratt and David Wilson Homes is really appreciated and welcomed.”
