A renowned Manchester law firm has recently bolstered its team by promoting two trainees into solicitors.
Elisse Roebuck and Gabriella Marriot celebrated their success after successfully completing a rigorous legal training program at Veritas Solicitors, showcasing the firm’s commitment to cultivating top-tier legal talent.
The two described feelings of ‘overwhelm’ and ‘amazement’ at the achievement, which will see them take well-earned places among the Veritas team.
Gabriella said: “It doesn’t quite feel real yet, but I’m glad I continuously pushed myself to get where I am.”
After completing a law degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, the 24-year-old undertook the arduous Legal Practice Course (LPC) before pushing straight on to acquire a training contract with Veritas Solicitors.
“My end goal was always to become a qualified solicitor, so to achieve it at this age is really impressive for me,” she said.
Elisse, 25, took a similar path, completing her LPC at the University of Huddersfield followed by her training contract at Veritas, where she also completed the Professional Skills Course.
“I’ve always liked helping people; when I was in school, I would volunteer a lot. In university I volunteered in the law school challenge to raise money for charities to support free legal advice,” she said.
“For me, becoming a solicitor is helping people in the best way.”
The pair praised the support on hand at Veritas during their training and the feedback they were given on a regular basis.
“People were giving me a lot of support, and that helped me learn and develop more; my confidence has improved a lot,” Elisse said.
Gabriella added: “Before starting at Veritas, I didn’t know what I was in for, but when the training began, I knew that I had made the right decision for myself, going into law. It’s a very supportive firm and I’ll always be thankful for the opportunity.”
LPC’s are usually two-year periods of practical learning which law graduates undertake prior to becoming solicitors.
With the support of a supervisor, trainees work at a law firm in numerous legal practice areas to acquire the hands-on skills necessary to complete the course.
