SCA Tax launches Post Complete to remove stamp duty compliance pressure from conveyancers

SCA Tax has announced the launch of Post Complete, a new stamp duty support platform designed to remove the growing tax advisory burden from conveyancing firms following confirmed changes to how HMRC treats the submission of SDLT returns.

From May 2026, HMRC will require those who interact with HMRC on behalf of clients in relation to tax matters – including the submission of SDLT returns – to be registered as tax advisers and meet minimum standards.

For conveyancing firms, this represents a significant operational and compliance challenge, particularly for firms whose core expertise is legal work rather than specialist tax advice.

Post Complete has been created specifically to address this issue.

The platform allows conveyancing firms to pass the stamp duty element of a transaction to a specialist tax advisory team, with Post Complete acting as the tax adviser on the transaction and issuing an insured certificate following review.

This enables conveyancers to continue progressing transactions confidently, without having to build in-house tax advisory processes or take on the additional regulatory and compliance responsibilities themselves.

Sean Swimby, founder and director of SCA Tax, said:

“Conveyancers are increasingly being placed in a difficult position. SDLT is now being treated much more clearly as tax advice, but for many firms it sits inside a legal process rather than a tax one.

Post Complete has been built to take that pressure away. We act as the tax adviser for the stamp duty element of the transaction, allowing conveyancers to focus on their legal work while still giving their clients specialist, insured tax support.”

Post Complete supports SDLT, LBTT and LTT transactions across England, Wales and Scotland and has been developed in collaboration with conveyancers to reflect how transactions work in practice.

A core part of the platform’s development is ongoing feedback from firms using the service, ensuring that it continues to align with real workflows, common pressure points and emerging compliance expectations.

SCA Tax confirms that Post Complete is not designed to replace conveyancers’ legal responsibilities, but to provide a dedicated and structured solution for the tax advisory aspects of property transactions.

Firms using Post Complete benefit from:

  • specialist stamp duty tax support
  • insured assessments and certification
  • a clear separation between legal and tax advisory responsibilities
  • and a more robust approach to managing stamp duty risk as expectations continue to evolve

Conveyancing firms can book a short consultation to see how Post Complete works in practice and how it can be integrated into existing processes.
